Among the most commented on and linked to posts on this blog has been my piece “Last Chance For a Win-Win on Same-Sex Marriage?”
While many saw my proposal as a common-sense solution to one of the most divisive issues in our culture, others thought I was an idiot. Fair enough, I suppose.
Two great discussions I recently noticed and wanted to direct you to are these- This one at Near Emmaus seems to land mostly on “Bob’s thinking is right on!”
This one over at Rachel Held Evan’s seems to land mostly on “Bob’s an idiot.” Also, many seem to miss the spirit of a “win-win”, but what are you going to do?
At any rate- two great discussions with lots to chew on.

OK – now that we have a picture, shave. Every day.
That said: the state should stop pretending it invented marriage. It did not. If it benefits from marriage, it should encourage it — including stringent divorce Laws , and disastrous consequences for cheaters, beaters and Abandoners. Let’s see who wants a marriage that they can’t walk away from.
And THAT said, the Church owns the problem in the culture. We allowed it and encouraged it by being sort of sadly-disappointed about divorce in the church. Now the chickens have come home to roost, and we need to man up.
What do you think “man up” looks like going forward?
I appreciate your willingness to show both points of view. That sort of willingness for 2-sided dialogue vs. just promoting your own viewpoint is increasingly rare.
God bless,
